Engaging a flexible ICT workforce will enable the Buyer to augment its requirements for the major work programs being undertaken.
Client is seeking a Sr Infrastructure Engineer (also known as Technical Engineers) implement, manage and retire the infrastructure (including physical, virtual, networking and cloud infrastructure) that supports digital services.
The Microsoft Senior Technical Engineer undertakes technical landscape design, installation, configuration, deployment, technical security and operation of ICT components and databases.
The Senior Technical Engineer works under the limited direction of senior staff. They exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy, and in the application of practices and procedures. Decision making is dependent on judgement, skills, and knowledge.
The Senior Technical Engineer manages and organises their own work in the context of competing priorities, including contributing to business planning, changes in workplace practices and business improvement strategies.

The agency requires these services at the agency’s premises in Canberra. Only candidates submitted for the location advertised in the RFQ will be evaluated.

Key duties and responsibilities
• Maintain and support the agency and partner agencies Microsoft environment end to end.
• Provide technical leadership and share expertise as the Subject Matter Expert.
• Design and develop solutions to support the Microsoft environment.
• Oversee the regular maintenance of patches and support packages for all technical layers
Essential Criteria
- Technical Skills : Experience working in a large scale and complex Enterprise level environment in the End User Platform technology stack. Knowledge in one or more of: End user devices, Microsoft landscape, Desktop and Server SOE, Active Directory, SCCM and Group Policy, Applications packaging and integration, Exchange, Skype and SharePoint, SQL Server, M365, Azure and Azure Active Directory, Automation and Enterprise Management, Integrated and automated Identity and Access Control and Asset management
- Availability management: Level 4 (SFIA) Analyses service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability. Contributes to the availability management process and its operation. Performs defined availability management tasks. Ensures that services and components meet and continue to meet all of their agreed performance targets and service levels. Implements arrangements for disaster recovery and documents recovery procedures. Conducts testing of recovery procedures.
- IT infrastructure: Level 4 (SFIA) Provides technical expertise to enable the correct application of operational procedures. Contributes to the planning and implementation of infrastructure maintenance and updates. Implements agreed infrastructure changes and maintenance routines. Uses infrastructure management tools to determine load and performance statistics. Configures tools and/or creates scripts to automate the provisioning, testing and deployment of new and changed infrastructure. Maintains operational procedures and checks that they are executed following agreed standards. Investigates and enables the resolution of operational issues. Provides reports and proposals for improvement, to specialists, users and managers.
- Problem management: Level 3 (SFIA) Investigates problems in systems, processes and services. Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.
- Programming/software development: Level 2 (SFIA) Designs, codes, verifies, tests, documents, amends and refactors simple programs/scripts. Applies agreed standards and tools to achieve a well-engineered result. Reviews own work.
- Systems design: Level 4 (SFIA) Designs system components using appropriate modelling techniques following agreed architectures, design standards, patterns and methodology. Identifies and evaluates alternative design options and trade-offs. Creates multiple design views to address the concerns of the different stakeholders and to handle functional and non-functional requirements. Models, simulates or prototypes the behaviour of proposed system components to enable approval by stakeholders. Produces detailed design specifications to form the basis for the construction of systems. Reviews, verifies and improves own designs against specifications.
- Systems installation and removal: Level 4 (SFIA) Undertakes or supervises complex installations and de-installations of systems or components, including handover to the client. Develops procedures and standards for installation and handover to maintain and improve the installation service. Schedules installation work around client priorities and resource availability. Ensures adherence to established safety and quality procedures.
