Description

Federal Government client is seeking  experienced Cloud Engineer who will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the branch’s cloud environment, ensuring that systems and networks operate securely, reliably, effectively and efficiently. Successful candidate can work in any of the ff onsite location: 

Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Hobart, Melbourne, Perth or Sydney

This is a full-time role, working within a growing team to support and maintain Azure based cloud environments for the branch’s technology solution. You will also work with developers and our cyber security team on improvement initiatives and responding to user and customer support needs. The successful candidate will have a strong background in cloud technologies, infrastructure management, and take a proactive approach to identifying and resolving cloud-related issues.

Security Clearance  Candidate must be an Australian Citizen also hold, or have the ability to attain, a minimum of a Baseline Security Clearance issued by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.

As a Cloud Engineer you will:

  • Design, deploy and maintain cloud infrastructure to support the technology solution, ensuring scalability, reliability, and availability. This will include utilising Azure services and DevOps to deploy changes to production, following best practices for application deployment and configuration.
  • Monitor and maintain system uptime by implementing high-availability configurations and responding promptly to incidents, working with developers to integrate additional telemetry where needed.
  • Drive improvements and automation through the identification of opportunities for improvements to infrastructure. You will develop initiatives that enhance efficiency, reliability, and performance or reduce cost. This may also include the implementation of automation scripts and tools to streamline repetitive tasks.
  • Author, contribute to, and share current-state documentation with relevant teams and stakeholders, including configuration details, and operational procedures.
  • Provide production support through troubleshooting and resolving issues as required, including setting up monitoring and alerting systems, incident response, and performing root cause analysis.
  • Take responsibility for the overall quality of technical deliverables, establishing and implementing quality assurance processes and standards.
  • Ensure appropriate change management processes and procedures are applied to minimise risks to ongoing operations and meeting organisational objectives.

Requirements

Demonstrated experience in: 

  • Demonstrated minimum 5 years’ experience cloud infrastructure and administration experience supporting critical environments.
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Software Development or similar.
  • Deep understanding of cloud networking concepts, VPCs, subnetting, VPNs, and similar technologies. Knowledge of network security practices, including the use of firewalls and intrusion detection systems.
  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices, tools, and compliance standards. Experience setting up and maintaining security protocols, including (IAM) ID and access management.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and optimise costs associated with cloud resources and services, ensuring efficient utilisation and minimising waste.
  • Experience with automated deployment pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployment (e.g. ARM Templates, Bicep, Terraform).
  • Proficiency in using monitoring and logging tools to ensure cloud infrastructure health and performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse complex technical challenges and derive effective solutions. A track record of troubleshooting and resolving cloud infrastructure issues.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills including the ability to effectively liaise and keep stakeholders informed and engaged, both verbally and in writing.

Candidate must also hold, or have the ability to attain, a minimum of a Baseline Security Clearance issued by the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency.

While not required, the additional job-specific criteria below are highly desirable:

  • Experience working with containerised deployments and orchestration.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 configuration and management.
  • Relevant Microsoft Azure certifications.
  • Demonstrated experience working within an Agile environment.
